Makira

Makira is a soon-to-be-protected area of rainforest east of the Masoala Peninsula. It too is part of the Bay of Antongil watershed and, in theory, should be among the most biologically rich parts of Madagascar. However, initial reports suggest that the lemurs of Makira have been widely hunted and mammal population densities are relatively low.
